Happy March loves!

We are in month 3 of our creativity challenge and I’m particularly excited about this months theme as it’s COFFEE! I’m looking forward to seeing how creative everyone gets this month.

ABOUT THE #AWLCHALLENGE

My word for 2018 is CREATE – in order to keep myself accountable I decided to create a monthly creativity challenge for myself and my readers.  We are hosting it over on Instagram and its open to anyone who wants to join in.  All you have to do is use the hashtag #awlchallenge on any of your images you post and I’ll be picking my favourites randomly to share via my Instagram Stories and on the blog.

MARCH = COFFEE

MAKING OF MARCH’S CHALLENGE

I have been really into creating mini stop motion videos the last few months.  You can see some of my others here and here. I am going to do a tutorial of some behind the scenes over on my Instagram (@annawithlove) – it will be saved in the “BTS” hi-lights if you want to go take a look.  I’ll be doing my best to make more thorough videos in the upcoming months (if you guys know a great editor send them my way!)

KEY TIPS

  1. Use a tripod – this is very important when creating a stop motion video so the base of your image stays put while the objects move around. I’m using this tripod and this horizontal arm. Full disclosure: I really don’t like this horizontal arm and am in the process of trying to find a way to rid my camera to my background stand for the birds eye view photos.
  2. Plan out the movement ahead of time – You’ll see in the video Ko and I stopping and talking through the movement of how I’m going to shoot / edit it in post.  This will save you lots of time after and make your stop motion interesting!
  3. Keep lighting the same – we didn’t do it in this one lol we kept standing in front of the lights so when I uploaded the images to photoshop I had to do some adjusting to ensure they all looked the same. You’ll see if you pay close attention that the light changes mid way through – I almost re-shot it because I’m such a perfectionist but I’m doing me best to focus on the saying ‘done is better than perfect’ – live and learn and I’ll get it right next time!
