WELCOME to our new studio! I’m so excited to show you guys the reveal of this space. I partnered with Canadian Tire to pull off the #CANVASRoomRefresh – I think we did a pretty good job! Keep scrolling to see the full reveal + read about all the details.
My home studio – maybe my favourite room in the house. I had high hopes for this room but with all the chaos of the move this room quickly became the “dumping” ground for all the things. I’m not shooting any client shoots at the moment so whenever I did need to shoot something I would push all the mess into one corner and open up a space to get the shot. As you can imagine, every time I walk by this room I get a sting of anxiousness. We have a lot going on at the moment (I mean really…who doesn’t?) so seeing this messy room has been making me feel so frustrated over the last month, especially.
Enter my friends at Canadian Tire.
If you’re new here, know this. I have a deep love for Canadian Tire. I’ve been a long-time fan and it’s been so fun collaborating with them on a few projects this last year. They reached out about me taking on the #CANVASRoomRefresh Challenge. At first I didn’t know which room to pick or where to begin…since we just moved in, “refresh” seemed a bit of an understatement haha our entire house is a makeover work in progress. I told them to let me think on it…
A couple mornings later I walked into our house after dropping off J and dropped my bags on the floor and let out a big exhale looking into the hot mess that was our studio (and partially because I’m pregnant and always out of breath). I wanted to walk into our house and see a welcoming and creative space, not this mess. That’s when I had the idea for picking the studio as our makeover room!
Since I’m not shooting at the moment it was the perfect time to make one side of the studio warm, inviting and functional. I still have another 2 walls to shoot on if I need to which is more than enough space and now all the frames are displayed with my art vs. piled and collecting dust in a corner!
I’m a bit in love with how the gallery wall turned out – will definitely be swapping out photos for the holidays and then for New Years again. For now I went with a Parisian Classic Glam theme.
Let’s talk about the real showstopper here…the fireplace! As you can see from the before photos we had another white fireplace (also from Canadian Tire and it was funnily enough one of the first things Kosta and I purchased after we got married. It instantly made our condo feel more cozy!). It was definitely time for an upgrade and when I saw the (electric) CANVAS Marseille Fireplace I knew it would be perfect.
The best part? The sides open up for STORAGE! There are a few things that excite me more than well-thought out storage spaces – this is perfect for hiding props that I don’t want out and about. It’s also a perfect space to store a lighter so you can quickly light up the candles.
Since the entire room was white including the floors, I knew I needed a rug to give the room some depth and a pop of colour (ya’ll know I love colour). The CANVAS Diamond Link Rug was the perfect fit and size.
I also fell in love with the CANVAS Hexagon Wooden Side Table. There was a time when I wanted everything to be white on white on white, butmy tastes and style are changing so this warm wood side table adds some dimension to the space. I also love the pop of wood in the Grace Wooden Floor Lamp – how chic is it?
Another favourite that I may go buy a few more of is the CANVAS Market Basket ($19.99). We got this fiddle leaf tree to add some green into the room and, instead of getting a traditional base for it, I thought putting it inside the Market Basket would be a nice touch. I love how it turned out!
So tell me! What do you guys think of the makeover? The other day I walked into the house and saw this space and it immediately made me happy. It’s become my favourite place to sit with my tea or coffee and have a moment of quiet time throughout the day. It’s nice to have a space where I can sit back and get inspired.
