ANIMAL THEME NURSERY

I am thrilled to finally reveal Johnny’s nursery! It took us three years to get our condo decorated and ‘done’ the way we wanted after Kosta and I got married, for the baby it took us three months.  I guess that’s what happens when you are expecting your first bebe – you want everything to be perfect and ready to welcome this new beautiful blessing.

Soon after we found out we were expecting a boy, Kosta and I sat down to discuss the various possible themes for the nursery.  I assumed he would take a laissez faire approach to it (he’s super easy going with the rest of our place) but I soon realized he had even more ideas than I did about what to create in our first bebe’s nursery.  I was amused and let him take the lead especially after we found out we were having a boy!
My husband loves all animals and he wanted to create a fun environment where our little bebe could learn to appreciate and love them too. I scoured Pinterest and began saving all the different types of nurserys that I felt were warm, inviting and as per Kosta’s request an animal theme.  I knew we had WAY too many ideas and different styles mixing together – we didn’t know how to edit our ‘wish list’ and make sure the room would flow.

That’s when I decided we needed a third party to help us bring it all together.  I reached out to my talented friend Jaquelyn Clark of Lark and Linen who agreed to consult and walk us through the design and decor process.  From picking the right crib, sprucing up the dresser, finalizing the colour scheme and most importantly bringing together the focal gallery wall she was a dream to work with and brought our vision to life.  There were so many ‘aha’ moments as it was coming together that I was so appreciative to have her on board.

We are also so thankful to our friends at Pottery Barn Kids who we teamed up with again for this special project.  We couldn’t be more happy with the quality of all the pieces – particularly the rocker (oh my goodness what a life-saver on those late nights rocking our little one to sleep its so cozy like an upright bed!)

While I wanted the room to be neutral I did want splashes of colour here and there as well as some interesting pieces of art such as the watermark print from A New Wall.  His nursery is our favourite room in the condo.  It’s cozy, warm and inviting.  The perfect space to raise our first bebe.  I cannot wait till he starts talking and begins naming all his animals friends around his room.

All sources listed at the bottom on this post

We filled the books with a mixture of our childhood favourites (I was obsessed with the Balloon tree) and also some of Kosta’s old books from when he was little that his mother kept (you see that ninja turtle book peeking out?)
Gallery Wall Safety Tip | We removed all the glass from every frame above his crib, it’s just the frame & photo (except for the two gold framed prints – those have light plexiglass) – we nailed them into the wall and then added command strips for extra security  – finally we moved his crib about a foot from the wall just incase (we pushed it back for the sake of the photo) – you can’t be too careful right?
The most comfortable rocking chair there ever was – seriously you guys it’s incredible

Our little man (who looks so tiny here) wearing our fav PJ’s from Petit Lem
Confession: This wooden camera was one of the first purchases I made when I found out I was expecting hehe – when I change him he stares at it and reaches for it *smirks*
Two of my favourite prints | I love that through minted you can customize the ‘I love You So‘ print we put his name and birthday on ours (also such a great gift idea!) – and the cute bear cub photo from Animal Print shop makes my heart happy!
