MOTHERS DAY LOVE

Mother.  Grandmother.  Godmother.  Mother-figures…
…maybe it’s because we have our first bebe on the way and maybe it’s because it’s finally starting to feel like spring in Toronto but I’ve been particularly excited to celebrate Mother’s Day this year. While some might label it as a ‘Hallmark’ holiday I rather look at it from a different angle.  A wonderful way to celebrate all the mama’s in your life both with us and up above.  Of course, we should be sprinkling appreciation to our mothers every day but I think it’s lovely to have one day we get to show it a little bit extra.  There are no words to express the gratitude I feel when I think of my own mother, mother in law, grandmothers and godmother.  They are all strong, incredible women who have taught me more than they’ll ever know.  I’m indebted to all of them for setting a beautiful example for me as I approach the beginning of my own journey as a mother.  I feel an overwhelming sensation of love and excitement and cannot wait to celebrate all the mama’s this year!
For all the reasons above I was thrilled when Michael Kors asked me to collaborate again and create images for their Canadian Mothers Day campaign.  This was a fun photoshoot to put together as we were to be incorporating more lifestyle elements.  We wanted the images to feel bright, airy and inviting — just like all those mamas out there!  I think my favourite piece to photograph were the fur pom-pom keychains you can also attach as an accessory to your bag.  I love how it dresses any bag up – it’s often the smallest of details that create the biggest impact…not to mention they make the perfect mother’s day gift!
For the photoshoot, I brought on board as models two close friends (who are in fact mother-and-daughter).  I also brought my own mama on set with us to snap some behind the scenes photos.  It was fun day of mother-daughter time and creating these images.  I hope you enjoy looking at the final photographs along with a peek into the behind the scenes of the photoshoot!

Our first location for the shoot was Her Majesty’s Pleasure
We started with blow-outs, mimosa’s and ended with latte’s and treats…

Gifting Tip: If your mother is anything like mine she doesn’t always book herself ‘pamper’ time – if you’re are going to buy the gift of a manicure/pedicure/blow-out get yourself one too and do it together! That way she’ll be sure to use the gift and enjoy some relaxing time with you 🙂

At Her Majesty’s Pleasure and having a final look over styling notes from Michael Kors creative team and my own shot lists I create before every photoshoot…

Let the pampering begin…

In case anyone is having a craving the barista at HMP makes the most delicious soy latte…
Going over the next set of shots…
Back at the studio tweaking every little detail…
It’s all about those details…
Hope you all enjoyed getting a peek into the behind the scenes of the shoot.  Love what I do and love sharing the process even more with you all…
Lots of love
